Punkbuster disallowed program driver cod4

So what are the odds that I talk about Punkbuster and even praise it a little and then suddenly have trouble with it a few days later? A little sleuthing however turned up the following information. This just goes to show you that sometimes these anti-cheat programs can be more trouble than they are worth.

Indeed, things are good to go here too! I just started getting this error and this page was the only one that showed up in google search. Oh thank god there is someone out there with the same problem as me. Thank you very much for this. Punk Buster has a horrible support system. This did NOT work for me. YEP — this fixed it for me. I read it, and then bam, I was getting kicked out by PB over an over. Not sure what my problem was, because I went back the next day and everything worked fine.

Apparently if you buy games through Steam it can occasionally cause problems with Punkbuster to have the in-game overlay enabled. I still get kicked. I'm pretty confident that it is something everyone is running but that we don't think about that is causing it, like the driver for my Razor gaming mouse, which has macros for the 14 or so buttons on it. In any case, the solutions don't work, so why don't we try to actually solve the problem instead of spitting the party line.

Also check if those are still the latest available drivers: 32bit and 64bit drivers. This kick can also be caused by one of the following programs running. Disabling them should stop the kick. If you do not have any of these programs running, open this ticket back up and state what you do have running, especially anything that might be similar to the above. Thanks for your reply fozzer it sure sounds a lot better than just "empathy" ; , so far the NVIDIA people limit themselves to write things like we will have a new driver next week or just a new driver has been released.

It gets frustrating, probably that's why one end up looking for information elsewhere. At least now we know that this particular PB kick is not related to PB at all and that will help people reading this forum as well.
