Unlike previous attempts like the failed Blackout mode in Black Ops 4, however, Warzone actually works. Some of this is down to the game being free to play, like most of the other popular battle royale games. The main reason for its success though, is that Warzone is incredibly fun.
The game boasts an impressive selection of giant maps which allow for up to players at a time. It also includes some unique features, like how when a player dies, they are sent to a gulag and can fight other downed players to earn the right to respawn.
It's this kind of forward thinking that has made Warzone such a big hit with players, although it's far from the only viable option in the crowded battle royale genre. Updated February 12th, by Thomas Bowen: Having dominated the FPS genre for much of the past two decades, the Call of Duty franchise hopping onto the battle royale bandwagon came as little surprise to many. Few, however, could have predicted just how solid an attempt Call of Duty: Warzone would turn out to be.
The developers are constantly adding to and improving this already great game and the integration of elements from other titles in the series is a brilliant and well-implemented idea.
Even so, it's just one of many great battle royale games that are out there, with some of the others offering just as much innovation; if not more. The most recent call of duty game at the time of writing, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War offers a level of visual fidelity that its predecessors simply cannot. Ubisoft may have been a little late to the battle royale party, but Hyper Scape is a solid addition to the genre. The game's bright color scheme is a little reminiscent of Fortnite, while its combat is more in line with Call of Duty and some of the other more realistic battle royal games. The combination works well, but only when the game itself allows it to. Like many other free to play titles, Hyper scape struggled to ride the momentum from its launch and there are some underlying problems that contributed to this drop off in players.
This is something that Ubisoft is well aware of though and the team behind the game are actively working to address some of these issues. They still have a long way to go, but even in its current state, Hyper Scape is fairly enjoyable in small doses. While it might not be as gritty or realistic as some of the other battle royale games on the market, there's a ton of fun to be had with Minecraft 's survival mode.
With the right server and the right competitors, battle royale style matches can be incredibly enjoyable and just as challenging as some of the ones found in other big titles. Combat may seem a little simplistic at first, but there's actually quite a lot of skill and tactical nous involved at times.
