To be surrounded by nature, majestic Oaks, creek, birds and wild life make this a true heaven. Adjacent by short walk to huge nature-preserve with hiking and mountain-biking trails. Walk to town about 15 minutes, where busses run. Great neighbors. Quiet area. Access to trails for riding and hiking. Lively downtown area with live music every night.

Nearby shopping, stores, and superb vairiety of good to great restaurants. Friendly neighborhood where people do know one another's names. We have been here for over 15 years and love it! We have raised our daughter here and also have two pets a dog and a a cat and it is an excellent place for kids and pets.

There is also plenty of beautiful open space nearby where you can hike, bike, or just picnic. Mt Tam is nearby, as are the local lakes which provide even more hiking possibilities. Downtown fairfax is a mere one mile walk down the hill.

And the place feels safe which is probably more important than anything else. But I question the academics, at least in the first 2 years. The English and World History curriculum is just way off in left field. Oh wait, they don't teach English or World History!

And my kid is not learning how to become a better writer or critical thinker. So far they have not read a single book, and we're almost done with the first semester. The administrators deny there is anything amiss, so no point in voicing concerns. They claim the teachers run the show so they have little influence on curriculum. It's all a bit odd.
